We hope you will have a wonderfull time and a successful hunt while visiting us in Arjeplog that lies in the lappish subarctic. This enormous wilderness that is split by the Arctic Circle. The hunt under the midnight sun or the northern lights gives the hunt a new dimension.
Naturally, we will see to it that you receive all the help you might require, suggestions pertaining to your hunt or otherwise, tips on how to behave in our neck of the woods as well as how to get in close to local animals or birds.
To avoid problems with the authorities and possible confiscation of your weapons or automobil, we kindly ask you to carefully read (sign. and return to us) the following excerpts from the Swedish laws regularting hunting and the possession and carrying of arms.
1. While hunting in Sweden, transporting your weapon (s) in automobiles is allowed only if they are unloaded, cased and locked inside the trunk!
2. On the way to your pass or hunting tower, always carry your weapon unloaded. While stealth-hunting, (so-called exclusive hunts with guide) you may have your weapon loaded, but no snell in the chamber, except if your hunting guide instructs you otherwise. When in doubt, ask your guide!
3. After shooting at any game, you are obligated to see if the shot-at game is dead, or made a clear get-away, before you may take aim at another.
4. Tracking wounded (even supected wounded) game is mandatory in Sweden!
5. Always watch your direction of fire and consider adequate bullet stop!
6. If your guide or his dogs are too close to the game, if you don´t know exactly where your guide is, hold your fire!
7. Before hunting in Sweden, you must be in possession of a valid State Hunting License, a hunting license from the owner of the district you will be hunting in, your hometown gun permit, as well as the Swedish Import License for your weapons. Upon demand, you are required to show your papers to the police or anyone requesting to see them!
8. Intoxicating liquids or narcotics (medicin having drowsiness-effect!) have nothing in common with hunting! Even a little chaser the evening before the hunt is still detectable in your blood the following morning and can still inhibit your reflexes! If you are approached by a Police Officer and requested to submit to an alco-test and it shows to be positive, your weapon(s) or your auto- mobile may be confiscated, or both!
9. Birds of prey are wholly protected and may at no time be shot at. You may not even take a closer look at them through your rifle-scope!
10. The so-called Kings (Royal) Game may not be hunted or aimed at! Ask your guide for specific information as to which species are in this group!
11. You, and solely you, are responsible for the shots you fire! Don´t be sorry!
12. Before hunting starts, you will be required to show proof of liabilty insurance coverage, which also covers hunting. If you don´t have one, we sell you one!
13. After the hunt is over, please empty your gun of shells, both the chamber and magazine, immediatedly and before starting to draw, skinning, or transporting your trophy.
14. Don´t lean your weapon against an automobile, fence, tree or the likes!
15. Never leave your weapon in an unlocked automobile. If for some reason you are forced to do so anyway, remove the bolt from your weapon, if possible, and take it with you!
16. Your guide is always in complete charge, without exception! Please follow his advice and suggestions. This way you will avoid confiscation of your weapon(s) and/or automobile, possible damage-suits, a day in court or worse, a nasty hunting accident!
17. Whenever in doubt, ask your guide! You are in a foreign country and unfamiliar with local laws and regulations, which may be totally different from the ones back home!
18. Skinning the game or taking care of the trophy is always your responsibility, without exception! Your guide draws the animal and transports it to be hung properly. In most cases, we will be able to hire in help to field prepare your trophy, at your cost!
19. Tips for guide or helper are virtually unknown and not required or expected in Sweden! However, should you be satisfied with his/her services, we suggest you get him/her address and after returning home, send him a gift associated with hunting, for instance an inexpensive knife, a nice rifle-sling, a leather-leash for the dog, which are priced items here!
Most of the above described is common knowledge and you most likely know all about what we mean. Follow the rules and prevent hunting accident. We ourselves are convinced that so-called hunting accidents do not exist. They are always caused by not following the rules, by carelessness, forgetfulness and in some cases by boozing!
Last but not least, we wish you a very good, memorable and successful hunt in our beautiful country and it is our sincere desire that you arrive back home truly satisfied! Naturally, we can not guarantee you a kill, but we will do or utmost to get you on to game! If you should have any questions at all, please ask! We are always accessible and at your service and disposal anytime!
Welcome and good hunting!
